Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

My son told me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
