Salah Extends Statement to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward apologised to the group of players following the controversy from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a European match subsequent to voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has refused to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were never meant to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
